The Goddess Brighid (Pronounced 'Breed' or 'Bre-ed'):

Brighid (Ireland) is a good Goddess at Ostara. She was the Goddess of home, hearth, feminine aspects, healing and fertility.

Brighid is the also my kitchen Goddess. She is the deity that I can relate to the most.

The God Cernunnos:

Cernunnos is a good choice for our God. He is able to influence the winds and the rains that refresh and water the woods, fields, valleys and heaths. He keeps them alive. He is also the God of verility and abundance. He can appear in the form of a stag, and is known as the Horned God.

Celebrating Ostara

During Ostara we celebrate the arrival of spring, fertility and balance, and the end of the dark winter months. The forces of feminine and masculine energies are in balance at this time, as are day and night.

It is such a beautiful time of the year. We begin to see the buds on the trees and flowers popping up here and there. The days are warmer and we start walking more, with the specific purpose of observing what nature has to offer us.

To celebrate Ostara we can hold a ritual. A prosperity spell is a nice addition to any ritual. Other spellwork could be for fertility and abundance. This could be for fertile plants and an abundant garden. Spring is a time for new beginnings, so we incorporate it into our spellwork.

We can also plant a seed or a plant. Here in Maine, we have to keep most of these plantings inside until May. This is when we usually have our last frost. Our altars can be decorated with flowers and eggs. My daughters' painted me eggs with pentagrams and pentacles for my altar.

Herbal workings are great for this time of the year. We can cook with them, make gifts or use them in your majick.
